YONA is an ever-evolving program that responds to the community’s needs while staying grounded in its mission, which is based on the belief that music is a transformative experience that helps children look forward to what is ahead. Many families that YONA serves are newcomers to Canada, and many YONA families face socio-economic challenges, and they entrust their children into YONA’s care. This program can exist only through the generosity and kindness of those who believe in YONA’s mission. Please consider being part of the YONA story.
Getting Involved
You can support the future of YONA by donating money or instruments, or by giving of your time. When you give to YONA in any of these ways, you give a child an opportunity they might never receive otherwise. A musical instrument in the hands of a child becomes a symbol for growth and development. Every gift, great or small, makes a difference and contributes to social change in the community and in the region.
Here are some examples of what your money helps to provide:
$200 – One day of Teaching Artist support for a class of 20 students
$1,000 – One term of YONA for 1 student
$2,000 – A full year of YONA for 1 student
$4,000 – One month of Teaching Artist support for a class of 20 students
Donations can be on-going monthly donations or one-time gifts. YONA-Sistema is a program of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, so the link below will direct you to winspearcentre.com. Your donation will go directly to supporting the operations of the YONA program.
Instruments that are donated will be used by YONA and other ESO-Winspear Centre education programs. Please donate instruments only if they are well-taken care of and in good, playable condition.
